City of Roanoke Fireworks Show
In Roanoke, the yearly official fireworks show is due to erupt over the River’s Edge Sports Complex at around 9:30 p.m. on July 4. The event promises to be an exciting one, with food trucks and paved pathways making the whole experience much easier for every visitor.
The event will include a festival that is perhaps best suited for younger family members. However, parking up on a lawn chair or a blanket is also a perfectly valid choice as you enjoy the surroundings. Bring members of your family, in addition to your loved one currently in TerraBella Pheasant Ridge, and make a full day of it, spending quality time together as a family.
For those who want to turn up early, you can celebrate earlier on Thursday, July 3, at River’s Edge North. The community celebration here includes musicians from across the region. If your loved one is more into music than fireworks earlier in the day, check this out from 4:45 p.m., but expect the fireworks to begin at 9:30 p.m.
Before the fireworks start, music will continue all day, creating an ambience that you can sing or dance to. However, it may be wise to bring ear protection for loved ones who may be sensitive to the noise. Look for shaded areas, too, in case the sun is too much for your family, and keep everyone safe.
At 9:30 p.m., get ready for fifteen minutes of patriotic fireworks, visible from everywhere around the area. Then, talk about your favorite parts with your loved one as you bring them back to our community later that night.
Salem Fair
Running from July 2 to the 13th, the Salem Fair in Roanoke Valley features exhibits and activities for all ages. Experience such presentations as:
- Danny Grant, Cowboy Circus stage show
- All-American Pig Races
- Small World of Agriculture educational farm
- Disc Connected K9s frisbee dog show
- Hilby: The German Juggling Boy stage show
Between shows, seek out a shaded picnic area or a restroom, depending on your needs, and take the time to relax. Don’t worry if you can’t attend on July 4 exactly, there are plenty of other days that you can attend, after all. You could even turn it into a multiple-day event, going here one day and somewhere else on July 4.
Several indoor exhibits also run through this time, in which you can enjoy the air conditioning while discovering more about what’s on offer.
If your loved one is a little more adventurous, you may even want to take them on the Ferris wheel for a grand view of the local area, where they might be able to tell you a bit about what they can see from the highest point.
On July 4, a fireworks display will also be run by the U.S. Marines, who will start it at 9:30 p.m. Find a great place to watch, and “ooh” and “aah” alongside your loved one as the sky lights up.
TerraBella Pheasant Ridge Resident Celebrations
The celebrations director at TerraBella Pheasant Ridge plans July 4 events well in advance. We aim to complement other community dates with patriotic activities in assisted living that match the residents’ expectations.
By combining patriotic events, music, and food with our existing amenities, we will ensure that every resident receives assistance in enjoying the day.
However, if you wish to be involved in making the day memorable for your loved one within our community, you are more than welcome to visit. Whether the person you visit is part of our senior assisted living plan or memory care, we will support your wish to be present and create a special day for both you and your loved one.
Within our private courtyard, we will be erecting banners and bunting, perfect for photo opportunities and senior holiday celebrations. Family members of residents are invited to join us in our community for the day and to spend time with those celebrating.
If you wish to know more, we can send you a schedule ahead of time to help you attend at the most appropriate time for your family. However, if you wish to engage in memory care games with your loved one, you would be more than welcome. These sensory-rich activities are intended to help those in our care recall specific items in their lives, so expect sing-alongs and daily rituals to be a big part of what we do.
When you plan to participate in festive senior gatherings with our residents, you are welcome to stay from morning to night if you wish. Then, when the fireworks at local parks or events begin, you can sit with your loved one and watch them. Share the moment and relax as you enjoy the food and drinks you’ve brought.
