Are you considering a move to Huntersville, NC? Or maybe you’re just looking for a day trip from Charlotte. Either way, this city has something for everyone. With its beautiful parks and lakes, quaint shops, and restaurants, and exciting nightlife options (not to mention a top-rated research university), Huntersville is an ideal place to live or visit. If you’re interested in exploring Huntersville, NC, here are some of my favorite places:
Birkdale Village
Birkdale Village is the Center of life in Huntersville. It’s full of shops, restaurants, and entertainment for all ages. You can get a little bit of everything here: shopping, delicious healthy dining, and entertainment. If you like to shop for clothing or accessories, visit Birkdale Village to find the perfect item for yourself or someone else. There are also plenty of stores where you can buy furniture or home décor items like lamps and picture frames that would look nice on your walls at home.
And if you are looking for delicious food options, this is definitely the place to be because they have so many different kinds available! Some of them include Thai cuisine, which includes pad thai noodles and sushi rolls; seafood dishes like crab cakes made out with fresh crab meat mixed with mayonnaise before being pan-fried into golden brown patties (this one’s my personal favorite!).
Latta Nature Preserve
The Latta Nature Preserve is a beautiful and peaceful spot to spend the day in Huntersville. The preserve features trails, a pond, and plenty of grassy areas where you can sit and relax. It’s also home to wildlife such as birds, turtles, and snakes! You may even catch sight of one or two deer!
There are several different activities to do at Latta Nature Preserve, including hiking along their many trails, which range from easy hikes that take less than an hour (great for younger children) up to very strenuous hikes that may take up much longer depending on how far up into nature you want to explore!
The best time to visit is during the fall when the leaves are changing colors. This is also when many species migrate south for winter, so it will be easier to spot them if you plan your trip around this time frame.
Northlake Mall
Northlake Mall is an indoor shopping mall located in Huntersville, which is just north of Charlotte. It’s open Monday – Saturday. The mall has more than 140 stores, including a movie theater, restaurants, a large food court, and a large kids’ play area.
The Northlake Mall also houses Barnes & Noble Booksellers, one of the largest bookstores in the country, with many titles available in-store and online!
Carolina Raptor Center
The Carolina Raptor Center is located at 6000 Sample Rd in Huntersville, NC. This one-of-a-kind wildlife center provides a home for injured birds of prey and teaches visitors about the importance of conservation and preservation. You can also see live raptors native to North Carolina, including bald eagles, hawks, owls, falcons, and more! The Center offers educational programs for adults and children’s activities (including an indoor play area). Visitors can see birds up close and personal through numerous exhibits, including an outdoor aviary where you can get up close to these magnificent creatures thanks to large observation windows. If you’re looking for something fun but educational – this place is perfect!
Jetton Park and Marina
Jetton Park and Marina is a great place to take the whole family, or just for you and your significant other. The park has a marina with boat rentals and fishing opportunities, as well as kayaking and paddle boarding on Lake Norman. Several walking trails throughout Jetton Park lead to various points in Huntersville, including Station 3 Fire Department (where you can get some great pictures of the lake) and the beautiful Historic Rail Depot nearby.
