People with limited mobility may think that they can no longer enjoy the activities that once bring them joy. However, just because you are experiencing limited mobility does not mean that there are no other options for you to have a good time. There are still many activities, both indoors and outdoors, that can engage and bring joy to seniors with limited mobility.
Here at TerraBella Windsor Lake, we believe that everyone deserves to have a fulfilling life with activities to look forward to each day. This is why we have exclusive senior living programs that ensure that our residents all have options to keep themselves engaged and excited for each day. Our Director of Celebrations, who is in charge of planning activities and events for our residents, has compiled a list of indoor and outdoor activities that individuals with limited mobility can also enjoy.
Taking the Time to Read
Reading is truly a pastime that has withstood the test of time, and for good reason! Whether you enjoy reading about fantasy worlds where you go on adventures or solve mysteries, or non-fiction offerings where you learn new skills or more about historical figures, there are endless options for you to explore. If you are someone who is more social, you can also choose to join a book club where you can gather with other like-minded individuals to discuss the books that have been chosen.
Exercising
If you are someone who has been active, having limited mobility does not mean that you have to stop exercising completely. There are many types of low impact exercises like water aerobics or seated exercises like chair yoga routines.
Try Out Arts and Crafts
One way that you can engage yourself is to start getting in touch with your creativity. There are many different avenues to channel this, whether you enjoy drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, or drawing. You can even make this a project that you do with the whole family like re-organizing family photo albums, creating scrapbooks, or even refining and compiling a family recipe book!
Choosing to take part in arts and crafts truly has many benefits like creating an avenue for you to communicate and channel your emotions or to improve your cognitive abilities.
Playing Games or Solving Puzzles
There are now many different types of games and puzzles out there on the market. There are options for all types of interests and for all levels of social activity. You can either choose a solo game for you to play alone or engage in multiplayer games in person or online to meet new people and form friendships.
